Behati Prinsloo Gets Honest About Postpartum Depression And Motherhood

US-ENTERTAINMENT-HWOF-LEVINE

We know Behati Prinsloo as the incredible model, wife to Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, and mom to she and Adam's two daughters, but Behati recently opened up about life as a mom and the struggles she faced with postpartum depression.

And WOW. Just as I felt with Chrissy Teigen opening up about what she went through after giving birth to her daughter Luna, it is so refreshing to hear moms in Hollywood talking about the reality of life after giving birth.

I cannot thank these women who speak up enough for making the rest of us who have experienced similar struggles feel less alone.

Behati revealed that it was always Adam who helped her move forward from those feelings:

"I had moments of postpartum [depression] that I felt like it was coming through, but my husband was so incredibly supportive and always got me out of it... I think it's very normal, though, as a young mom and a new mom to feel helpless and to feel over emotional, you know."

Behati gave birth to the couple's daughter Dusty Rose in 2016 and their second, Gio Grace two years later.

She explained that her experience with postpartum was luckily not as extreme as a lot of other moms: "I think I got lucky not to have it to an extreme case, but you can see yourself spiraling."

But she does have a message for other moms going through that feeling after giving birth: just as for help.

"I think that the message is just that it's never too little to get help or to ask for help. So, no matter how small your feelings and stress—or whatever it is about being a new mom—there's always help out there and support from family and friends and I think nobody judges anyone."

LOVE your message Behati. I hope we all can be a little more aware of when we just need to ask for a little bit of help!
