Were you single during COVID quarantine? So was Chelsea Handler. The funnywoman joined Ryan Seacrest on-air on Monday, July 12, and shared the hilarious way she navigated dating during lockdown.
"At the beginning, it was a big energy suck. It was like, 'Oh my God, this is so depressing!' … It took the joy and laughter out of me," Handler admitted, revealing she then tried to make the best of quarantine. "But you get to a period of like I’m in charge of turning this around, right? Like, I’ve got to make good use of this time, not just sit around and do mushrooms in my house all day long which is what I'd prefer to do so I got really focused on getting fit and getting into shape … and on my standup and being ready to come out of this and be one of the reasons people come together for the first time in large groups ... and make it a celebration to be back together again."
Out of that mindset, Handler's Vaccinated and Horny tour was born. The comedian's standup comedy show kicks off this summer in Santa Barbara through the end of 2021 and will cover all-too-relatable pandemic moments, like attempting to date.

"It was a very hard time if you’re a single person which I am," Handler recalled. "I’ve never been more confident about my decision-making skills of remaining childless," she joked. "I was just patting myself on the back every other day. I’m like, 'You know what word I'll never have to say? Homeschooling.'"
That said, she did come to the realization she had to date somehow given the pandemic was running its course.
"When I realized it was going to go on and on ... I was like, 'OK, well, I’m going to have to have sex at some point' so what I did was I had these Covid tests at my house, they were called Q Health, and I would invite guys over and they’d sit in my backyard for their like 20-minute audition where I would interview them," Chelsea hilariously shared. "I'd administer the Covid test as soon as they arrived — it takes like 20 minutes to get the results — and during that time, if they said anything I found annoying or offensive like 'I don’t think masks work,' I'd come right back out and say 'You're positive. You've got to go.'"
