Minivans Are Making A Comeback

As families look for a cheaper, more practical alternative to increasingly pricey SUVs, minivans are making a comeback. U.S. minivan sales jumped 21% last year, while the overall auto market grew just 2%, with buyers citing lower prices, better fuel economy, roomy interiors and easy-access sliding doors. Large SUVs now cost an average of more than $67-thousand, while minivans start around $40-thousand, making the price gap hard to ignore. Dealers also say models like the Honda Odyssey are shedding some of their old “soccer mom” stigma as more drivers rediscover just how useful they are.
