Study: Having A “Movement Snack” Every Hour At Work Boosts Your Mood

A new study shows that “movement snacks” can boost your happiness. A new study by Columbia University in the British Journal of Sports Medicine shows that the five minute walk breaks (movement snacks) every hour help overall well being. Most adults spend three quarters of the day sedentary, which increases the risk of being overweight and developing heart disease and type 2 diabetes. The movement snacks raises productivity, boosts mood and lessens fatigue, the research shows. Taking calls or being on virtual meetings during the breaks is suggested for workers concerned over what others will think of their break.
