The “Miami Vice” reboot has their leading men and a new name. The new film has set powerhouse actors Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler to take on the roles of Ricardo “Rico” Tubbs and James “Sonny” Crockett respectively. The film’s announcement also came with a fresh title, “Miami Vice ’85,” and will be directed by Joseph Kosinski. Last year, news of the reboot circulated and even tagged it with a premiere date of August 6th, 2027 but no actors were attached to the project at the time. The film’s logline teases the reboot will see “the glamour and corruption of mid-80’s Miami” and is heavily inspired "by the pilot episode and first season of the landmark television series that influenced culture and set the style of everything from fashion to filmmaking.”
