It’s been established that cooking food at home has several physical and mental health benefits. There’s a new one to add to the pile. Researchers in Tokyo found that cooking a meal from scratch at home was associated with a 23-percent lower dementia risk among male participants and 27-percent lower risk in female participants. Scientists also found that cooking a meal at home at least once a week was tied to a 67-percent reduction in dementia risk. Researchers believe it’s because the activity engages the brain on a high level. Another bonuses of whipping up a home cooked meal is they are healthier with no ultra processed foods involved.
