It was a “graveyard smash” back in 1962 and now “Monster Mash” is moonwalking onto the big screen. Miramax just confirmed they are turning the classic Halloween anthem into an animated musical, with studio CEO Jonathan Glickman saying, “For more than 60 years, nothing has said Halloween quite like the ‘Monster Mash.’” The song, performed by Bobby “Boris” Pickett and co-written with Lenny Capizzi, was famously written in under two hours and recorded in one take. “Billboard” crowned it the “Biggest Halloween Song of All Time,” and it still racks up over 500-million streams. Glickman promises the new film “celebrates the fun and spirit of the original.” While the film’s plot hasn’t been revealed, the song speaks for itself. The spooky track is a story about a mad scientist’s monster rising to bust a move so the scientist makes it a party for other monsters like Dracula, Igor, and Wolfman to enjoy.
