The Chores People Cut Corners On Most

Do you procrastinate on things you really don’t want to do or end up only finishing half of the work? You’re in good company, according to new research. It finds that 67% of people regularly only complete part of a task before moving on and starting something else.

A new survey of 2-thousand adults reveals that household cleaning is the chore we’re most likely to cut corners on most. And while that’s not so bad, some of these are much worse for our health and personal hygiene.

  • When it comes to cleaning, 35% admit to leaving a room only half tidied, but more have definitely done it.
  • More than a quarter (27%) confess to doing a “quick freshen up” instead of a full shower.
  • Another 26% say they haven’t bothered to finish a book or TV show they started.
  • But here’s where it gets gross - 22% of respondents admit they only brush their teeth once a day.
  • Why are they skipping the second recommended brushing? For 36%, it’s because they’re in a rush and 23% blame it on being too tired.
  • That’s not the only oral hygiene they’re skimping on, as 39% admit to never flossing.
  • In general, 36% of those polled say they cut corners because they run out of time and 29% say it’s because they prioritize other things.
  • More than half (56%) don’t think about the long-term effects that taking shortcuts can have.
  • And nearly a third reveal that they’ve had to go back and re-do something they didn’t properly finish the first time, costing them time and money, and leaving them stressed or feeling guilty.
