Instagram Rolls Out “PG-13” Experience For Teens

In an effort to be more teen-friendly, Instagram is doing a full “PG-13” makeover aimed at making the app feel more like a movie with parental guidance. The platform will now block teen users from seeing or chatting with adult accounts that post age-inappropriate content, expand banned search terms, and limit exposure to sexualized or risky material. Even AI chat experiences will get a teen-friendly filter, keeping conversations squeaky clean until users turn 18. The move follows mounting backlash and congressional scrutiny over teen safety, as Instagram tries to prove it can prioritize well-being without losing its youngest audience.
