Netflix has announced that "Virgin River" will be getting an eighth season, which will make it the longest-running original Netflix series in the streamer's history. Season 8 is expected to consist of ten one-hour episodes; production on Season 7 just wrapped, with a premiere date yet to be determined. The series, starring Alexandra Breckenridge, Martin Henderson, Annette O'Toole and Tim Matheson, is based on the "Virgin River" series of books by Robyn Carr, and centers on the lives of the residents of the small northern California town in the show's title.
