Favorite Little Luxuries Of Modern Life

When was the last time you enjoyed something indulgent? If it’s been so long you can’t remember, new research suggests that you’re in good company. A new survey finds that 46% of people feel like they don’t have time for luxury in their daily lives.

According to the poll of 2-thousand adults, they usually treat themselves to a little luxury around five times a month.

  • More than a third (38%) say having the chance to enjoy little luxuries has become more important than it used to be.
  • Nearly three-quarters (72%) agree that being able to enjoy these things is a lot easier now.
  • For 82%, small luxuries have a positive impact on their mood, so making an effort to enjoy them is worth it.
  • The most common type of luxurious indulgence is food (39%), with dessert being the most luxurious thing you can eat.
  • Half (51%) of respondents say a decadent taste is what makes food feel more luxurious, followed by the sensation they get while eating it (44%), and the way it engages more than one sense (33%).
  • Some people admit to going to extremes to enjoy their little luxuries, including hiding alone in the bathroom (43%) or hiding something to disguise it (32%) from others.
  • The survey also points out things that used to be considered a luxury that aren’t any more, including international vacations, air travel, owning a personal computer, subscription TV and even fast food.
