Jessica Molina’s mom, Lydia, was always clear about what kind of presents she wanted and wasn’t the “I’ll be happy with anything you get me” type. “My mom has always had the same Mother’s Day gift rule for as long as I can remember,” Jessica shared in a recent TikTok video. According to her mom, if it’s used for cleaning, decorating, cooking, or maintaining the house, it’s not a Mother’s Day gift because everyone in the family can benefit from it.
Now that Jessica is a mom, she says she’s on board with the idea and says she was inspired to share Lydia’s rule after reading about other women asking for household items for their special holiday. “I thought, ladies, we need to set the bar higher,” Jessica says in the video. “We need to have higher standards. This holiday is about recognizing the effort we put in all year long. We deserve to ask for things that are specifically meant for us.”
