Since it first launched back in 2005, Reddit has always been free to access, but that’s about to change. The site plans to introduce paywalls at some point in 2025, according to CEO Steve Huffman. During a video Q&A “Ask Me Anything" session, he shared plans for paid content, calling it a “work in progress,” and saying it would be one of the “new, key features” Reddit plans to add this year. But don’t worry, while some content will be behind paywalls, Huffman has previously explained that they’ll only apply to new subreddits, not those already popular with users.
