Marine With Prosthetic Arm Can Now Lift 400 Pounds

A former Marine who lost his arm in Afghanistan has regained his strength with a custom-made prosthetic that has now made him into a bit of a Robo-dad. Sebastian Guadalupe Gallegos can now lift up to 400 pounds, which fills him with a newfound sense of independence and confidence. “It’s the only prosthetic that I can do things with and trust it,” the Corporal said in a recent interview.

After struggling with traditional prosthetics, which couldn't withstand his active lifestyle, Gallegos collaborated with a friend to design a durable, aluminum, and carbon-fiber arm. This superhero-like appendage allows him to do everything from deadlift heavy weights to carry his one-year-old son. Gallegos's unique prosthetic has even garnered attention on TikTok, with followers praising its resemblance to video game characters like “The Winter Soldier” and “Johnny Silverhand.”
