Possible Moonshine Cave Discovered at North Wilkesboro Speedway

NASCAR is widely known to have its origins in transporting moonshine, and now there may be proof of that at the North Wilkesboro Speedway. A news release says a possible moonshine cave has been discovered in a sinkhole under the stands. It was found last week when workers began removing seats to investigate the cause of concrete cracks in the front-stretch area near the grandstand. Senior VP Steve Swift says the 700-square-foot area includes a small cave and an interior wall that could have been used to hide or even make the liquor. Speedway staffers are evaluating what to do next, as about 600 seats have been taken out to repair the area. Swift says they've got to finish soon, because NASCAR All-Star Race Week begins May 14th.
